Dropout Prevention Summit
http://www.americaspromise.org/APAPage.aspx?id=10158America’s Promise Alliance is supporting more than 100 state and local Dropout Prevention Summits across the country in the next two years. Every governor has been invited to host a statewide summit, and an additional 55 mayors and superintendents were also invited to host separate city-level summits.
Ohio’s statewide summit is scheduled for fall 2008; Ohio cities invited to host a summit are Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo. The Columbus summit is October 15-16, 2009.

Early Bird Registration deadline: October 10, 2008The 2008 NAWDP Youth Development Symposium–Empowering Youth Achievement in a New Economy–is in Chicago, Illinois on November 18-20. The Keynote speaker for this event is noted educator and youth enthusiast: Dr. Steve Parese. His presentation, "The Challenge of Connecting with Youth" will explore the predictable challenges of relationship development between troubled youth and staff. Attendees will gain new insights into youth behaviors, typical staff mistakes, and more effective adult responses at each stage of relationship development. Pre-symposium workshops are also offered. They include:

The webinars and accompanying materials, which were presented October-December 2007, are available online and cover: Shared Youth Vision Self Assessment Tools, Collaborative Approach to Serving the Neediest Youth, and Resource and Gap Mapping.
